Donald B. Ardell is a pioneer in the wellness movement. He wrote High Level Wellness: An Alternative to Doctors, Drugs, and Disease, first published in 1976 by Rodale Press, with editions over the years by Bantam Books and Ten-Speed Press. Since then Don has written a dozen additional wellness books, including Die Healthy (with Grant Donovan), 14 Days to Wellness, Aging Beyond Belief and most recently, Not Dead Yet on thriving and flourishing in later life and Freedom >From Religion in 30 Days.
Don has degrees from George Washington University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC (urban planning) and Stanford University Business School. His doctorate was awarded in 1979 by the Union Institute and University, Cincinnati, OH.
The success of High Level Wellness helped spark the wellness movement and propel Don to a career of writing, speaking and teaching. Since 1984, Don has produced 860 REAL Wellness Reports.
Don is a recipient of the Halbert L. Dunn, the National Wellness Institute's highest honor. He is also one of ten Americans given the Healthy America Fitness Leaders Award in 1991 by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
Don was an avid competitor in basketball, handball, road running and triathlons. In the latter, he won a dozen national and seven world championships. At present, he prefers singles pickleball. Don’s website is donardell.com.
